We’re not sure what the better part was of the 2018/19 Volkswagen Scramble Championship Final, the golf or the functions. While golf was the path that lead our 140 qualifiers to the Championship Final, it certainly wasn’t the focus once they arrived. With three planned functions including a Welcome Dinner, A Night at the Races Theme Night and Presentation Gala Dinner, there was a lot more to enjoy on the Sunshine Coast than just the fairways.

The Welcome Dinner kicked off with incredible food and drinks, fireworks and an Elvis impersonator which got our players pumped for round one. The function allowed teams to mingle and prepare for the big weekend ahead of them. Teams with late morning tee times stayed out late, while some teams with early morning tee times stayed out later.

A Night at the Races Theme Night was where our Scramblers saw the debut of The Volkswagen Scramble Derby. The night consisted of three novelty races where teams nominated their teammates to race and provided the bookies with odds on how they’d run. Plenty of bets were taken on the night leading to a number of large pay outs. Shout out to PGA Professional, Luke Garel from Kew Country Club, winning on horse Phar Kew with odds 24 – 1!

The Presentation Gala saw us name the 2018/19 Volkswagen Scramble Women’s Champions Riverlakes Golf Club & Mixed Champions Bargara Golf Club. With a three piece band getting everyone up on the dance floor, it ended the weekend with laughter and solidified lifelong friendships.  The Championship Final created a once in a lifetime experience for all our Scramblers with everything built around the golf event.

The Sunshine Coast is not only a golfer’s heaven with the number of world class golf courses; it’s a place where you’ll feel like a local from the moment you arrive. Our Scramblers had the Saturday evening free, allowing them to enjoy the Sunshine Coast’s sunshine, endless coastline and naturally refreshing lifestyle. While leisure sports like golf are on offer on the Sunshine Coast, there’s always biking & walking trails, sailing and fishing. You can find every water sport imaginable along their beaches or explore the relaxed Sunshine Coast style with their range of artisan and farmers markets, fashion boutiques and shopping plazas. Sunshine Coast is a must-visit destination as it offers a bit of everything.
